Semifinals preliminary scoring

So, here is what we have so far...

Peter vs. Chuck

Peter is currently 30 points down. But you knew this.

He has cj2k, britt, cook, and coples to play, but it doesn't look promising. but you knew this.

Chuck has birones and griffin to help pile it on, but you knew this.

That 30 above doesn't include the two point homefield advantage, but you knew this.

Joe A vs. Joe K

A much closer game, with Joe K up by 20 points, but again, you knew this.

Joe K is done scoring, with Joe A needing a miracle from cromartie, but you knew this.

Why do you know this?
Because I know this.
Because it is all there.
Right in front of you, the whole time.

You want to talk about the future?

Here it is.

The old job of the commissioner was to facilitate the draft, score games, and make rulings on odd stats, like Gore's catch of the fumble for a TD. Did you catch that one? Of course you did. Why do i know this? Because I know this.
And if I know this, You know this.

There is no mystery here.

Want the breakdown explanation of the above scores?
Do it yourself, but you already did, right?
Because what I know, you know.

I didn't make the playoffs, but you know this.

But did you know this, that I took away fourteen this week on defense, with wimbley still to play?
probably not. why? because it wasn't important to know it, other than me.
For next year that is.
You know, still evaluating the team.
Going over what could be changed.
Getting a preliminary and most likely final, barring injuries and training camp, protection list.

but the question really isn't if you knew what I did on defense.
The question is, did you know what you did on defense.
whether you are in the playoffs or not, do you know.
sure, if you are in this week, more interest to find out.
but if you are eliminated, are you done checking, much like the regular season?
how many of you will check your guys week seventeen, when it means nothing to anyone.

perhaps if you see the questions that i ask rediculous, then we have come to the end of the GFFL.
For the GFFL is different that any other league, and it is more than one day. it is a season. it is a tradition. it is what defines us, much like the Constitution.

And if you can't answer the above in a positive light, perhaps it is time to ask yourself what you want out of your future. what you envision it to be. and if it is one that contains the GFFL. because we are not a computer league. you are allowed to have other leagues. some of you already do. how much attention you give to the GFFL and other leagues is up to you.

If you do not wish to pick up the paper and join the cause, then expect what has been given to you over the past few years. If you are willing to take up the paper and continue in the storied tradition of the GFFL, we are accepting applications for commish as always. We are always up for a vote to have new blood. i'm sure some of the leagues former commissioners will attest to the freshness of a season without the responsibility of decision making beyond that of their own team.

But note this, unless there is some program that keeps the integrity of the original scoring system, i will not participate in any such league and call it the GFFL. This league has been around before 90% of all these other leagues existed. Maybe it is acceptable to see the United States decline, but not the GFFL. We have made minor adjustments through the years, and all for the betterment of the league. Joining some online group and altering the scoring destroys what we have built all this time. The league is bigger than you and I now. It is its own thing.
It doesn't adapt to you.
You adapt to it.

The new reality is speed through cooperation.

If you don't accept cooperation, you will not get speed.

But the GFFL will live on where others blend and fade into an ever blander background.

Yours in spirit,

  1. SEASON IN REVIEW:

Source vs Chuck - these 2 handled their respective playoff opponents but it wasn't easy. Their wins were more of a reflection of the strength of their rosters as oppossed to an indictment of Schmabby and Peter, who played pretty well, but in the end were no match for the top two. Source and Chuck have pretty much owned the league the entire season as they finished 4 and 5 games respectively ahead of the nearest competiton. The Sourceis led by Arian Foster and a dominant, big play defense while a deep WR corps and the great Tom Brady lead the charge for Chuck. In contrast to last seasons #1 vs #2 championship matchup, where Joe D was the better team, there is no clear cut favorite in this one. As far as I'm concerned you can flip a coin. What will be of the utmost importance to Source will be the continued effectiveness of his defense while Chuck needs Brady to be Brady. As far as the future of these proud franchises it looks bright. Both have all their picks and a decent group of players of which to choose from for their protected list. By no scientific calculation, I'm picking Source to win it all because he is due, but I give Chuck the nod for GFFL Executive of the Year as he drafted a well balanced team, unearthed some highly productive RB's late in the draft, found some new blood for his future and didn't have to sacrifice a draft or a season to do so.

  2. AND THE REST OF US:

Schmabby: Considering how his draft day began, family car accident and a twisted ankle, and how is season began, getting blasted by the new guy en route to an 0-3 start, his turnaround was both unexpected and exciting. Im pretty good with my GFFL history and I couldn't tell you the last time Schmabby was in the playoffs, so it's been awhile. In the end he was a .500 team that lost in the first round, but the reality is this season could be a major breakthrough. He FINALLY has some RB options to go along with the incomparable Drew Brees, and although he will miss his second rd pick next season, of all the trades made this one was balanced and worth it. His future looks bright.
Peter: A season that looked like an abject failure after a 1-4 start turned around in a big way as Peter went 6-3 over the last 9. The tape doesn't lie however and this team was a pretender. They lacked balance and consistency and went 1-6 vs the top 3 seeds. Good teams win tough, close games and they beat other good teams but I never could get over the hump. Like Chucks fart when he helped me move, we were explosive and dangerous, yet weren't sustainable... But we were resilient, have all our draft picks, Adrian Peterson is healthy and better than ever and have two stud RBs in which to work with in the offseason. I don't like to rebuild ( "sustained success" is our motto )so although we didn't achieve our goal the future is bright and we stand tall today. I've really got to get my shit together with defense, 2 straight years i've sucked and it's cost me.

  3. THE CAHOOTERS:
Todd - what a welcome addition to the league, Todd wil be a force over the next few years. His football acumen coupled with his shrewd and aggresive nature will see to that. I was hard on Todd, all in good fun, since he was crowning his ass Champ after week 1 and the seemingly endless and ludicrous nature of his trades. In final review though, it looks pretty good. Although we disagree on the strength of his protected possibilities, something in which I prioritize as of paramount concern, he stuck around at the end of the season and almost knocked me out of the playoffs all the while sitting on a stockpile of early 2013 draft picks after the fleecing of BJ. I look forward to kicking his ass and crushing his will in the future!
Bj - Beesch had a rough season and he is at a crossroads. He looked like a contender for much of the first half, bottomed out, then inexplicably made a move out of despeseration that was too little, too late and may have cost him 2013 as well. Hard decisions must be made with his roster, but in a year where most of us have strong possibilities with regard to protected players, the competition will be fierce in an effort to unload players and recoup some draft picks. Bj may be forced to sell low, as Peter has much more attractive options, albeit at a higher price most likely. Should be an interesting offseason at Camp Rusty, but he is definitely at a key juncture in his GFFL career.
Willie - Really looked like he was the hottest team, not named Source or Chuck, down the stretch. Had a typical Willie great group of WRs and poo at RB. McFadden is just another failure in the long line of what has become the dreaded first overall. We have had one success at #1 in the past 7 years or so! Anyway, his future looks bright as #12 and Calvin Johnson should return next year. Willie had a nice defense this year too and his formula for success always has him dangerous. Willie, I hope you stick around and use the online access WE HAVE and not focus so much on what we don't...and use your waiver claims!!! P.S WORST YEAR EVER FOR WAIVER CLAIMS
Joe D - simply put, it was a lost year. Bruce got his title and appeared to be suffering from a post championship ( and Buffett concert ) hangover. He had traded some picks away in his title year and that did affect his roster but his protected studs of a year ago didnt match their 2011 productivity...it was all downhill from there, he knew it and stockpiled top picks for next year. I believe Joe has 8/40 first picks, including first overall. Ill admit that I have had sleepness nights over that thought!! All he gave up was Bush (sucks), Fitzy ( worst team and qb ever), Harvin ( always hurt) and Nicks ( see Harvin)...some of the worst trades ver were made this year and Todd and Joe D will be laughing all the way through the first few rounds. Joe WILL be back next year and in contention
